PROGRAMS

We offer five programs with the assistance of ten specially-trained horses and five ponies/miniature horses. The programs are: Individual/Group Riding Lessons; Special Olympics Equestrian Team; Ranch Tours; Participation in the Happy Hearts Rodeo; and Summer Horse Experiences.

  • INDIVIDUAL/GROUP RIDING LESSONS are given from March to October. There are 3 eight-week sessions. During a session, participants engage in a one-hour lesson each week. They are taught not only basic riding, but also horse care, equipment, grooming/handling. In addition to the physical and emotional benefits listed above, the riders practice life skills, such as: listening and respect (wise choice to respect an animal that easily weighs a ton more than you!)
  • The SPECIAL OLYMPICS EQUESTRIAN TEAM provides equine sports training and competition horseback riding for those with special needs. This year we have fifteen riders participating in three horse shows.
  • RANCH TOURS for schools or organizations are scheduled on Mondays. Students and people of all ages learn about our mission and programs. A tailored tour can include a horse experience, such as grooming, leading and/or riding.
  • HAPPY HEARTS RODEO - is held in conjunction with the “Prescott Frontier Days – World’s Oldest Rodeo” annually in June/July. This event is for 25 special needs children who would like to experience the fun of a real rodeo. We bring our horses, instructors and volunteers.

    • Camp Opportunity International
